Introducing The Himmat Project

The Himmat Project is an initiative designed to bring awareness towards domestic violence amongst South Asian women. Seeking resources has been complicated particularly in this population for decades given serious issues of dominating patriarchy, gender-based violence and traditional roles of women and men. It is time to bring awareness to the gravity of the issue. The Himmat Project works to educate, bring awareness and empower women to be able to find support coming from families and partner who have not been supportive. We look to build a community online and in person, suggesting local mosques and shelters nearby. In keeping our website and Instagram page regularly active updated we hope to keep each other connected and other women who have gone through similar events. We are finally breaking boundaries, represented by the community for the community and by women for the women.
